This week we continue to read fiction and non-fiction text about what makes a strong leader. We are about good words to describe an effective leader like honest, respectful, caring, and many more.
We are learning about the prefixes -un and -re. Your child's homework tonight is to watch the following video about the prefix -un.
Video for the -un prefix
Phonics- We are working on long vowel spelling with two vowels. Your child can check out the following video to learn more about this skill:
Two Vowels Go Walking
We continue to work on restating the question in our written response. If the question asks about Jo's problem in the story, we are looking for a response that says "Jo's problem was that she forgot her homework." We are not looking for an answer that just finishes the sentence like "She forgot her homework."
Science:
We are continuing to learn about light.
Math:
We are learning how to attack word problems. As we read the problem, we are learning how to identify if the problem is asking us to add or subtract. In addition, we are learning how to make sure our picture and our equation match the problem.
We are reviewing how to determine the missing number in addition and subtraction problems, place value, and continuing to develop our number sense for numbers to 120 and beyond!
We have been working on our coding skills by using Scratch Jr. and Daisy the Dinosaur. Today we explored the website Scratch Website. Since it does not work on our student iPads, your child can check it out with you at home on your computer or other compatible device.
