This Week in Room 8 (2-16 through 2-19)

ELA:
Essential Question- What makes a strong leader?

We will...

  • Learn about characteristics of good leaders through a wide-range of fiction and non-fiction text. 
  • Compare and contrast characters from stories.
  • Describe the characters, setting, and events in the stories with great detail. 
  • Ask and answer questions about the text. As we answer, we continue to work on restating the question in our answer.
  • Include evidence from the text in our response. 
  • Introduce the prefixes -un and -re
  • Long vowels spelled ai, ay, y, ie, igh
MATH:

We will dig deeper with the following skills:
  • Comparing numbers using <, =, and >
  • Understanding meaning of difference, sum, and unknown.
  • Determining 1 more, 1 less, 10 more, 10 less AND 1 more, 1 less, 100 more, 100 less
  • Determining how many bundles of 10 are in a given number
SCIENCE:
  • This week we will begin our next unit on Sound and Light!
LEADER IN ME:
  • This week we will revisit Habit 2 "Begin with the End in Mind" as we read                        Rosie Revere Engineer. We will see what other Habits the students find in the book.
