This Week in Room 8:

This week we will continue to practice our classroom and school routines. Please make sure your child packs his/her blue folder each day!

ELA: We will begin our "Friendship" unit. As we read and listen to a wide-range of literature about friendship, we will be asking and answering questions about key details in the text. Who are the characters in the story? Where does the story take place? What was the problem in the story? How as the problem solved? As we answer these questions, we will look for the evidence (where we can find it) in the text.

We will also work on our proofreading skills as we check to make sure our morning message has sentences that begin with capital letters, finger spaces between words, and ends with proper punctuation.

WORD WALL: of, his, had, him, her

WRITING: We will be working on correct letter formation, writing complete sentences that begin with capital letters, have finger spaces, spelling word wall words correctly, spelling unknown words phonetically (called "Turtle Talking" in room 8), and correct punctuation at the end of the sentence. In addition, we will be re-reading our work to make sure it makes sense for the reader.

MATH: We will begin our measurement unit. Students will be ordering objects by length and measure objects using non-standard measurement. We will also work on writing our numbers without flips.

Library Books are due Thursday!
