Last Day of School!

I cannot believe that the school year is over.
Please check out the pictures from yesterday.

We took some time this morning posting our final blog entry for the year.
What were some of your favorite memories of first grade? OR
What are you going to do this summer to grow your brain?

We read Grandfather Tang's Story.
Afterwards, we synergized in small groups to create the images from the story using tangrams.

1st Grade End of the Year Party:
We enjoyed playing fun games with our friends in other classrooms.
It was a beautiful, but hot day!

We made it... Second Grade, here we come!

Have a fantastic summer!

Please make sure to keep me posted on great things happening with your child.
I look forward to having lunch with many friends when school starts next year. To earn lunch with Mrs. C, your child needs to complete the 20 writing entries (each entry has a topic sentence, 4 supporting sentences, and closing sentence) in the summer journal over the course of the summer.

Take care!

What a Week (so far)!

We finished our Cinderella stories!
I am so proud of my students for all of their hard work.

We even had some special visitors come to our room to hear our stories!

We participated in ACES: All Children Exercising Simultaneously

We visited 2nd grade to learn more about what to expect next year.

Water Balloon Toss!

What a Week in Pictures!!

We enjoyed spending time outside with our 1st grade friends.
The weather has been amazing!

We began researching our country for Field Day... Go Italy!

We used World Book Kids and National Geographic Kids to find
facts about Italy.

We were eager to write our facts down on our research board.

K- Kindergarten Mentor Day

We went down to Mrs. Ewert's classroom to mentor.
We began by reading our Team Read letters we wrote for our kindy friends.

Next, we taught the kindergarten students how to use "Kahoot!"

Finally, we had time to do some buddy reading!

We worked on our "Friday Choice Activity" with Mrs. Comitor's class!
Students could choose from the following activities:

Chocolate Shop Challenge:
We had to design our chocolate shops using only 20 square units.
We also learned how to figure out area and perimeter.

Students cut out their chocolate shops and placed them on the grid representing a city.
We used our coding skills to write code from one chocolate shop to another chocolate shop.
Be sure to check out your child's latest Seesaw post!

We had the opportunity to explore Osmo Tangrams with Ms. Schippers.
Students synergized, problem-solved, and used visual discrimination to create
the images on the iPad.

Thanks, Ms. Schippers!

I am so proud of our class! They are so eager to learn more about the world around them. They are up for any challenge I give them. Way to go!!!
