Phonics Focus:
- We introduced the short "o" sound (cot, log, rock).
- We are reviewing the sounds of short "i" and short "a."
- We continue to practice writing CVC words with the short vowel in the middle.
- Our class has been working so hard to make sure our sentences begin with a capital letter and end with punctuation. This week we continue to learn about the different kinds of punctuation (period, exclamation point, and question mark) and when we would use each punctuation.
Writing:
- We are becoming more confident with using transitions in our writing. We know that using transitions helps the reader to understand the sequence of events.
- After we finish writing a sentence, we are learning how to go back and re-read our writing to see if it makes sense.
- We are working to make sure that we are spelling the word wall words (introduced this year) correctly. Since they are hanging on the wall, we need to use our classroom resource!
Math:
- We are reviewing measuring and comparing different objects and putting them in order from shortest to longest.
- Each day our class is working to build our confidence with numbers up to 120. What comes before/after? As a challenge, we are working with numbers up to 999.
- We are working to write our numbers without flips and making sure the correct number is in the Ten's place/ One's place.
Leader in Me:
- Today we introduced Habit 3. This teaches us the importance of work before play. We determined what is most important and make sure to do that first... before the play!
