Comparing Shoes with Non-Standard Measurement

In this activity, students worked in pairs to compare shoe lengths.
We discussed the importance of making sure the shoes are lined up at the same starting point. In addition, we learned that we have to measure with the same size objects.
After we traced and measured each shoe, the students created a sentence using one of our key vocabulary words (longer than, shorter than, or the same as) to describe the measurement of the two shoes. Then, the students determined how many cubes longer/shorter.
